I shifted my blog! And this is the new link www.outlandishwhims.wordpress.com to continue our whimsical dialogue.

It's out of character that I will put away an important part of my memory. I don't like changes. Yet, out of a desperate need to break out of the cell of familiarity; Out of a heady rush to my mind and out of the desire to tag closely to what I am, I moved and it is exciting- In many ways, I am no longer the same girl who wrote the 2004, August 24th entry titled "Rambles". Some of the naive forthrightness to bitch and berate injustice or simple irritants have shrunk back into deep withins. The name of of the blog doesn't feel right anymore. Wordpress is great as it has an import function that you can change the address and move the contents there, much like shifting house and bringing the furnitures.

This address meant something and I mourn the loss but I look to the mirror and I like it. I like what I am now. I like my life. I like my varying independence and dependence and I am thankful still that all these can only be achieved with God by my side. That is one thing that never did change. There was a period of time when I felt lost, as if the line to Him is so faint and I just keep grasping and grasping. Now, its just there. Though, it gets more difficult to assert that God is on my mind, fact is that with so many consuming distractions, it is a struggle. BUT I try =) And this reminds me that Sean and I have finished our first unit of Bible Studies from Joshua- Esther. Next comes memorising the 8 books and the exam. It was a lovely way to spend my Tuesday nights for 10 weeks, with the Lord and a great friend.

Finally, a farewell to this blog address. This blog was created in JC1, first entered into Hwa Chong, the first few months of Council and very near to MAF preparation. I cringe when I look at some of the entries and in many ways, I am proud of them, regardless of how stupid, how childish and how disgusting they sound. And so, shifting to a new place and bringing along the old memories as well. It was damn embarrassing last week when the Archive function was enabled and Winston started reading through the old entries. I looked at myself through his critical and judging eyes and I go, 'O MY GOODNESS! This is so embarrassing'. It was quite funny for the both of us though. And speaking of funny, I digress again. Yesterday, we adopted a Fluff(friend) on facebook and it is a really cute baby wallaby (but we think it is actually a kangaroo). And he was happily petting it for 15 minutes while I was bathing. It was so adorable.

And so it shall be the end and let's move it!

Lovely cupcakes from C-Cup. On a whim, I bought 70 dollars worth of cup cakes, hoping to brighten up my day and they did- with their pretty decorations and cheerful colours.

BUT they are not as tasty as the Tiramisu birthday cake that Aloy is going to bake for me (He spent 6 months looking for a sweater for me last year and now decides that baking a cake is much easier.)

Happy Birthday to my beloved Limin!! Seems like we spent my birthday and your birthday celebrating at the same place =) Hope that Aloy and I made you happy by spending the last hours of your birthday with you. Sorry that it was so rushed and even more so that I almost forgot (You have to thank Winston and his facebook alert. There are five birthdays that I really bother to remember in sequence- Ya Qi's, Huishan's, Joyce's, Aloy's and then yours, so be honoured ok). I love you dear!! Our memories go back to slogging for council together, stayovers at shihan's place, climbing the gates of Hwa Chong at night, hugging and getting emotional together at MAF and keeping each other sane for the exams. You will be prettiest and kindest doctor that I know and not to mention smart as well, Miss I-am-not-Dean's-Lister-but-top-20-in-Medicine. I swear that Aloy is jealous of you. He will be lucky if he keeps out of bottom 20 in medicine. =p Muacks. God Bless!

Another important person that I must wish is Junbin. Happy Belated Birthday. I swear that I was going to blog about your birthday celebration at Forture with 2 over-spilling tables of law people BUT I seem to have lost your photos in the mess of data transfer. Happy Birthday JB!! Thanks for being a lovely friend, for being willing to send me everywhere inconvenient, for providing a listening ear and for being good bitchy company =) It's one full circle again and this time last year, we were stressing each other out in the Law Library. I am so sorry that I have been absent from this space for quite some time.

The short story is that so many things have been happening and I am too busy to tap on my keyboard. But now, it is exams and so I have no choice but to start tapping on my keyboard. And I know you would want to know what I have been up to =) December holidays will be coming and some lovely people will be back-
Mandy- I miss you because you are like a sister to me. And I am blogging because I know you miss me =) I miss our phuket trip, our choc buffet at Fullerton; how chan and you came all the the way to my Comm's ball last year to give me a sneaky napkin and flowers. I think the officers thought that I was mad especially when the waiter went to all the tables and asked who is Fangyi. My goodness! I miss our high- tea at Goodwood. I miss talking to you and thank you for always being there! Somehow, we are only rational when advising each other but never ourselves.
Shihan- Be back quick and in time so that we can go Zoukout together. We can have steamboats and stayovers, bitching and boys. Ok. I think you are the only one with boys. But well, just be back quick!
Yixin- You haven't been back for one year! That is like a crime. And stayovers are never the same without the entire gang of you, Shihan, Welin, Yanling and Limin. I miss our last New Year's eve and the first day of new year.
Welin- Somehow, you have been back but I haven't seen you!!! So you need to appear infront of me soon after your exams =)

The long story would be that I bought a new Mac Book to replace the trusty but laggy Acer. I faced two major consequences- my new O2 Atom Life doesn't sync with it anymore and idiotic Winston has been very 'supportive', asking me to buy an iPhone. But seriously, the fact that the O2 cannot sync with the Mac OS is a major headache because it renders my phone NORMAL. Why would I want a normal phone that is big and ugly and black?

And for the longest time, Safari displays a blank page at my blog and so yes, I am using Flock which I tried so hard to not use with the confusing multiple buttons and even blogging facilities. Now my Mac is damn amazing thanks to Jon Kao's configuration of Leopard and Vishal's geeky work - he configured my network in school, the school printer, provided iLife'08, downloaded Quiksilver and tuned it further and so, my Leopard is purring in delight now. That is in addition to all the toys I bought for my Macbook. I feel happy studying now. And there is photobooth! Shit. I absolutely dislike blogger upload of photos. I need to figure out how to make this easier.

Day 10
We are damn proud of ourselves because we took the underground to all the places on this free day. British Museum. Oxford Street. Harrods. Auntie Jackie's house at Northolt. One day adventure in London.

Winston and I spent the later part of the day roaming Oxford Street and rushing down to Knightsbridge 20 minutes before Harrod closes. We had a typical English pub meal as well, complete with Fish&Chips.

Sailing Clinic: Sail w Us
After much planning and confusion, Bernard and I successfully organised "Sail w Us". This time we targetted experienced sailors and new sailors as well and we capped the number at 30 so that everyone will have fun in a small group. We got Tracey again, an ex- Olympic sailor who scares Kaixiang still, she was helpful and great with the participants (and still screams alot). The sailors gather for a short theory and after that they were dispatched to rig the boats, sail, play games, play poker and a enjoy a sumptious buffet dinner. We had damn lot of foreign students this time - Ziyang thinks that we should rename the club to NUS Expats Sailing Club. Haha.

Thank you for helping out without hesitation for all the events. Thank you for all the fun sailing experiences because you are retarded. Thank you for not caring about the safety of my participants and keep making them land in the water. Thank you for your lifesaving expertise that you might save them back again. Thank you for being shameless and funny. Thank you for making me laugh at you.

Haven't written anything real on this blog for some time, because I have been substituting it with the cheapskate option of 'spamming' it with pictures (according to the 'cool' lingo of my sister).

Many paradigm shifts. Experienced many disappointing moments and had the need to grab onto comforting friendships. Such emotionally draining moments when frustration and the need to cry rages against the want to laugh and be happy. Watching people going through it was just as enlightening, almost like a mirror reflecting my flaws and options.

But I am thankful. Really am. I am blessed with plenty- with God, with good friends who became brothers and sisters and a supportive family (my father volunteered to replace my cranky Acer - supporting in action. haha).

Geneva was the last city that we stayed in before departing Switzerland. The Red Cross Building/ Flower Clock/ A statue which I forgot the significance of/ Jet d' Eau.
Nevertheless, I did the most amount of shopping at Geneva, within ONE measly hour- 2 tops, a belt and a Swatch. I would like to gripe about the negligible shopping I have done on this trip, except to buy key chains, scarves and Godiva for friends and family.

We had a primary school gathering once again after a space of...hmmm...3 years.

Andrew Lau- Roly- poly class jester who taught all of us to burn everything and anything. We spent so much time meeting after school to swim, to run around playgrounds and create rockets from gunpowder. He has slimmed down and became SAJC council exco who cannot say his pledge properly.
Zhou Yiheng- The PRC who is more Singaporean than anything and is currently serving NS. We went to HC together as well. Yiheng is always damn nice and he used to have a coconut hair style =)
Desmond Chin- We know each other for 15 years, that's like 3/4 of my life. How cool! We were in the same kindergarten to Primary 4. Became VJC Soccer Capt and Faces of the Year. I think the whole world had a crush on him, he married Bridget Ow though. (She stole my diamond cross pendant in Pri 2)
Ruifen- She has the same surname as me. I love Ruifen, she was always a pretty and kind prefect. We met again because she is Joanna Chew's good friend from YJ.
Sock Peng- One of the top scorers of Zhangde who appeared in the papers. Sock Peng was damn scary as a prefect, fricking fierce and she couldn't stand alot of people. My sister still remembers her as 'the fierce one'.
Wanying- We were in the same clique since Pri 3. We have the longest history and the most amount of fun, playing truant, getting sacked as prefects, becoming traffic monitors, school conductors, ostracising people school trip to Bangkok and till now, the school teachers will still remember us for the achievements that we had in Pri school. Alot of childish fun but we turned out ok =)

On the 4th day we spent in Switzerland, we climbed another alp, tis time via rail. Jungfrau was actually much prettier than Titlis, with the glacier park and the view of the triple peaks. We spent the night at Interlaken, a touristy town at the bottom of Jungfrau.

Mollie's mama said that I am sexy and that he was ugly. Haha. Treated Mollie to dinner to thank him for buying the King Lear tickets from me. I coerced him into the deal in like 2 minutes. Interestingly, we bumped into damn alot of people today. As we were getting dessert, Mollie's junior popped out of nowhere and said Hi. While we were heading towards Guess, we bumped into Yaqi, Emz and Stacey (in the picture above). We stopped to chat in the middle of Citilink and Cliff saw us on his way to meet Kai and David. Then, as we walked towards VnC, we saw Sze Lang who thought that Mollie and I got together after 4 years of Dunman and 2 years of HC. How retarded. When we were parting at the MRT, we saw Alan and Mols just exclaimed his name damn loudly.

It was really a hilarious dinner and comforting as well. I get to whine and whine with Mols dishing out advice here and there. I was feeling sick ok. The greatest theory that Mollie continued harping on was that we should never compromise being happy for anything. How self- centred it is, but I used to subscribe to that as well. It was easier in the past to maintain that arrogant posture and say fuck the rest. But I can't seem to do it now. I don't think I am that happy anymore, not the exuberent way Mols is. I need to regain a greater sense of self. As I was telling Erene, perhaps my quality of life has been greatly reduced, no longer as purposeful as before, no longer as driven with my commitments... This is really bad. I need to have a closer walk with God as well. Or maybe I am just whining to a screen because I feel sick and headachy.
